COP26 March Saturday 6th November 2021

On Saturday the 6th March, St. Albans Friends of the Earth organised a march to the government's handling of COP26. About 500 people marched from the Council offices, down St. Peter's Street, to High Street to protest and listen to speeches. The march sent a strong message to our political leaders that they need to do more to combat climate change, including phasing out fossil fuels and investing in alternative sources of energy.

Amanda Yorweth, of St. Albans Friends of the Earth, read out a speech by climate scientist Dr. Philip Porter which warned of the rapid and accelerating change that was currently overtaking the planet.

The city's MP, Daisy Cooper, also addressed the crowd telling them that, in the words of Greta Thunberg, the COP26 talks were just more "Blah blah blah", and that there was no Planet B.
