APRIL 2025

News

Please sign and share the petition to stop expansion at airports like Luton

LutonAirport.jpg

More than 20 airports across the UK, including Luton Airport, have expansion plans, which will result in a combined increase of 60%+ capacity.

More flights means more health damaging air and noise pollution and more climate wrecking emissions, at a time when we should be doing everything we can to reduce emissions and avert climate catastrophe.

The Climate Change Committee says there should be no net airport expansion unless aviation is outperforming its emission baselines (which it certainly isn't). Local people and politicians oppose airport expansion plans, but central government can overrule their decisions.

We think airports are big enough. If you agree, will you sign the petition?

Find out how we can ensure the Planet comes before Profit

PersonHoldingPlacard.jpg

St Albans Friends of the Earth is joining the campaign to put the planet first. Companies are wreaking havoc on our planet’s life support systems but together we can force UK companies to stop environmental damage in their supply chains.

The campaign is called Planet over Profit and will demand a new law that forces UK companies to prevent environmental damage and human rights abuses in their supply chains.

This April, Friends of the Earth is launching a new Planet over Profit strategy, with a new focus and even more energy.

Coming together with other local action groups, we'll build a groundswell of pressure for a new law that holds companies to account for destroying forests and peoples' lives.

I'll be joining the webinar on 10 April 7pm to find out how our group can get involved.  Will you join me?
