Help Plan A Summer of Action to help Orangutans
St Albans Friends of the Earth has joined with other Friends of the Earth groups to fight for a law to prevent UK companies from damaging the environment in other countries. Like using unsustainably sourced palm oil that involves chopping down the forests that the last orang-utans live in. The campaign is called Planet Over Profit and promises to have a huge, positive impact around the world if successful.
Join our Zoom meeting 7.30pm on Monday 12th May to discuss how we can raise public awareness and gather petition signatures this summer.
Time: May 12, 2025 07:30 PM London

And to kick off our Planet Before Profit summer of action, will you join the quick fun photo on Friday 16th May 5pm, right at the start of the SustFest Local to Global themed weekend of eco activities.
We'll meet at the band stand in Clarence Park in St Albans, we'll have animal masks and banners, and we'll be looking to use the trees there to give a forest theme to our photo, highlighting the plight of forest creatures in other parts of the world.
Everyone's welcome including children and dogs and our photo will only take a few minutes.
It's not essential, but if you could RSVP to this email I can make sure I have enough masks for everyone.
Looking forward to seeing you there!
Fancy a Film Night?
The People's National Emergency Briefing shows experts talking frankly about the effects of human induced climate changes, and the reactions of people to this information - some famous people and some ordinary people. The film is only being shown in community settings and screenings are accompanied by a discussion and ideas for action. Most people find the experience helpful and empowering.
There are lots of screenings planned in our area so now would be a great time to see this film that's sweeping the nation. See where screenings are planned on this map and, if you can, take a friend.
