St. Albans Friends of the Earth AGM

AGM2.jpg

Our AGM was held on Tuesday 11th February 7.30pm

Sarah once again kindly hosted our AGM at her lovely Passivhaus in Harpenden.

As part of the activities, we planted 30 Silver Birch tree seeds for members and friends to take away.

This was to get trees started to plant locally and help increase tree cover across the District. Don't worry if you missed this event as we're hoping to do more seed and tree planting this autumn.

More Trees Please

If you can't wait to plant some trees, then London Colney Tree Wardens would appreciate your help planting 450 trees as part of a Carbon Offsetting Project at Walsingham Way Open Space at 10 - 12 pm on Friday 6th and Sunday 7th March.

Why not help them out and help yourself at the same time.

There's so much plastic rubbish around the District, so let's get out and clear up as much as we can before the vegetation grows and hides it. The evidence is growing about the harm that plastic does in the environment generally, not just in the sea, so come and take action.

Meet at 2.30 pm on Sunday 1st March at the Alban Way exit from Morrison's Car Park on Hatfield Road, St. Albans. Please bring gardening gloves, litter picks and sacks if you have them.

And in the meantime, sign this petition to ask the Government to get drastic on plastic.

Have Your Say on Travel Plans

WalkingCycling.jpg

Have your say on travel plans. From climate change, the expanding population of the District, to our health and welfare, there are so many reasons why we need to get out of our cars.

Herts County Council has outlined its latest ideas for changes in and around St. Albans from more 20 mph zones to cycle facilities in the city centre. They are really keen for local input so take a look at the plans and have your say here.

St. Albans Cycle Campaign say that they would like to see plans for a full cycling and walking network enabling people to travel safely throughout the District - even if financial restraints mean that the network can't be completed right away.
