A bit about our campaigns

Campaigns

We are currently involved in the following national Friends of the Earth campaigns and local actions:

Electricity Detectives: is a project we are running in association with St.Albans District Council to use electricity monitors to teach children, and other groups, about electricity. We have a set of electricity monitors which we lend out to each member of the class or group along with instructions and a work sheet. After a week the group meets up again to return the monitors and discuss what they have learned and how it might affect their behaviour in the future. If you would like us to run a session with your group (school class or group, guides or scouts, neighbourhood group, faith group etc.), or would like to find out more, then e-mail us here.

What's feeding our food? Intensive meat and dairy production causes greenhouse gas emissions and forest destruction. We are joining FoE's Food Chain campaign which calls on Government to tackle these issues, and asks you to eat a little less meat. See our Meetings and Events pages to find out where we will be campaigning over the summer.

We are working with local schools to raise awareness of climate change and reduce the carbon footprint of schools themselves. If you are interested in a speaker coming from Friends of the Earth to your school contact us here.

Working with St.Albans and District Council to move  their SAVE initiative into its second phase aimed at reducing the CO2 emissions of the District by 3% per annum. We also sit on the Carbon Reference Group.

Helping community groups to improve the efficiency of their buildings.
