Week 8: Special Occasions

posted Aug 1, 2013, 12:18 PM by Amanda Yorwerth

Special occasions can be an excuse for buying stuff for the sake of it, excessive packaging and, more importantly, the feeling that unless we conform to these expectations, we’re being anti-social.

In my experience, spending a little time to make something is usually very much appreciated and leads to a special gift which means so much more – and can be an enjoyable way for you to spend some time too. Although these ideas might look to be only for the craft orientated, perhaps a little patience, rather than lots of skill, are what’s required.

Also, these sorts of activities can be perfect to do with children if they have time on their hands over the holidays.

So our 3 tips for this week are:

·         Make Edible gifts http://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/collection/edible-gift

·         Make your own greetings cards http://www.allaboutyou.com/craft/make-your-own-cards

·         Make your own reuseable newspaper gift bags http://howaboutorange.blogspot.co.uk/2010/07/how-to-make-gift-bags-from-newspaper.html
